These tracks have been floating around my brain when thinking about the show. I think I've left the punk thing behind, so I thought it might be helpful to explore other sonic worlds.
Under no circumstances should you listen to these on laptop speakers. Get some headphones now.

This is the vibe I sometimes imagine wanting to set as the audience are coming in before the show starts. I like it because the smooth jazz stuff tricks you into thinking it's going to be a mellow vibe but actually underneath, that beat is quite agitated.
Alternative audience coming in music. Icy cold but heartbreaking.
This is the skunked out vibe for the scene about not being able to sleep and staying up late at night working or smoking weed. This is the kind of thing I was listening to a lot at university.
This is kind of hypnotic and spaced out, slightly scared, slightly removed from the world... This makes me think of the scene with Kate telling me she's started making herself sick and me wishing she would tell her parents.
This track is huge for me. The vocal is really emotional and melancholic but what's underneath is really frantic and agitated. So much sadness and nostalgia in the chorus 'you remember me...'. That and the repetition of the word 'love' feel so relevant to the show.
Another really important one for me, although I prefer it if you start it at 1.02 for the full surprise effect of the crazy beat coming in after the smooth jazz. This is how I feel at the very end of the 'absurd' scene, when I've just told Kate I can't go out with her anymore if she doesn't try to get better.
I sometimes think about this track as the feeling at the end of the show, the climactic 'washing away the pain' ending. I think it's got a lot of different feelings in, from the quite tender nostalgic lines on the sax and the keyboard chords to the rousing, anthemic bits.
Alternative feeling for the ending. Heartbreakingly sad but some sense of relief and comfort. Something still after the chaos.
